LeBron James and Kevin Durant exchanged an emotional hug at the end of the NBA Finals

This is the stuff that makes you love sports. The two best players in the world, one winning his first NBA championship, the other losing despite a Herculean effort. They end it on a hug.

Kevin Durant completed what he first tried to do in 2012, when LeBron James was there stopping him. They entered that NBA Finals with zero rings. James won his first, then two more before this year’s series.

Durant won Finals MVP, though James averaged a triple-double for the series.

“He’s the only one I’ve been looking at since 2012. He’s the one who looked me eye-to-eye,” Durant told ABC’s Doris Burke on the court after the game. “I told him we tied up now, and we going to try to do this thing again.”

At this rate, no one’s going to argue against that.
